Memorial Weekend

5.31.2013

Oh how I love going to Show Low.  It's hard to not just chill when we're up there.  The view isn't bad either.  Since it was a long weekend all of Shawn's family planned a trip together.  Each couple took turns making breakfast and/or dinner.  We had quite the spread, Loved the idea!  We also played some hilarious minute to win it games courtesy of Stacy.  It was quite funny!  The weather was a bit warm but nothing like the valley of course.  We took advantage of the close proximity of Fool Hollow and enjoyed some fishing both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday we took the girls with their new princess fishing poles.  We knew their attention span is not the greatest at this point, but we want them to learn casting.  Ava actually surprised the heck out me.  She nailed casting and did great!  We practiced with them at the cabin.  Their poles came with a rubber fish to help them learn the concept of casting.  It worked awesome!

Adisyn using her binoculars she made at school.  Other wise known as "knockers" LOL Ava.

Ava's facial expression when I told her we were spending all night at the cabin.

Coloring saved the trip up.  The girls were entertained for hours.

First Swim

Not sure that it's technically summer yet, but sure feels like it.  The girls and I decided to head to the pool to cool off.  The girls were practically pros last summer.  I think they forgot everything they've learned in the past, it was as if it was the first time swimming.  One of my goals this year was to get the girls to swim without their floaties.  We have a lot of work to do :/

At one our community pools there is a baby pool that's only 1 1/2 inches.  Perfect play pool.  The girls met a friend too.  They spent nearly an hour playing with the water and tea cups.

Since the pool is so close to our home.  I let the girls sit on my lap for a little drive.

Mother’s Day

5.13.2013

What would we all do without the Mother’s in our lives?!  Not quite sure.  We had a great day of celebrating such special people to us.  My goal was to sleep in while Shawn cleaned up but I ended up practically killing myself going for a run.  I am so out of shape.  When I came back the girls had made a cute Mother’s Day card for me and Shawn cleaned the house, he even used the granite cleaner.  Once we all got cleaned up we headed over to Shawn’s parents house for an amazing brunch.

after we all ate Ava took Sam for a ride around the yard until the battery died.  It was cute and the longest I have seen Sam sit still.  Later I asked Ava if Sam said anything while they were riding around.  She said he just laughed a lot.  Cousin Love.

Amazing Mothers.  I look up to each one of them.

Personalized vase for Nana.  I had a glass vase from our wedding so I put an aluminum can in the middle for water and put the girls artwork around that.  Turned out cute.

After we left Nana and Papa’s house.  The girls and Shawn took a nap while I did some shopping.  I had a gift card from my birthday that I was anxious to use. Later we met Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Victoria at Carrabas.  It was an hour wait but we snagged a patio table and only waited a few minutes.  Fortunately it was right by the portable cooler outside so it was rather nice.  The girls got balloon animals.  Ava was not feeling the balloon lady.  Well lets be real, she doesn’t like strangers at all, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily.

My Mom got me the most thoughtful gift.  A cd of songs that make you wanna dance a few sentimental songs that bring us back to the days of growing up.  had a little tear in my eyes when I heard “when I see you smile.”

After dinner we visited my Grandma.  First time Shawn has met her.  She was really excited about her new headband.

To My Mom,

Words can’t express how lucky I am to be your daughter.  You have taught me so much and I look up to you in so many ways.  You’ve shaped me into the person I am today.  I often times think about growing up and a huge smile comes to my face.  So many good memories.  I thank you for always loving me unconditionally and singing “you are my sunshine”   all the time.  I love you so much!

To My MIL,

Thank you for doing such a great job raising Shawn.  I am so lucky to have him and I would say a lot of that credit goes to you!  You are such a patient, loving, and thoughtful person.  If I am half the Mother you are I know that I have succeeded with my job as a parent.

Ava and Adisyn

5.06.2013

My babies aren't babies anymore.  This morning I took the girls to park to play and take advantage of the surprisingly nice weather.  I haven't taken many pictures of them lately so my camera came along with us.

 Adisyn was in model mode

Ava... Not so much

I can not get enough of these girls.  Just before I took them to the park we got bathed and ready for the day.  I gave them a brush and asked them to brush their hair, next thing I know they are in the downstairs bathroom spraying air freshener in their hair and then brushing.  UGH... monkey see monkey do.  Not that I put air freshener in my hair but occasionally some hairspray.  They have turned into Mama's girls.  Maybe because they're getting older not quite sure.  They love to dress up and put make up on already!  Lately, they have been into drawing instead of coloring.  They are quite humorous and talented.
