HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

6.16.2014

We started our celebration by having dinner at one of Shawn’s favorite restaurants, Oregano’s.  Of course we both got the same thing we always get.  Its just too delicious.  We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the surprising nice weather.  Then on Father’s Day we headed to Shawn’s parents house for a bbq and pool celebration. The day was overcast and rather cool out so the pool was cold. The girls didn’t care though they had a blast and didn’t want to get out.  Adisyn finally got the courage, again, to jump in the pool on her own.  Its only a matter of time before they are floaty free.

DISNEYLAND

6.11.2014

We had kind of two vacations in a row so I felt this needed a separate post.  After San Diego we headed to Anaheim to take the girls to Disneyland for the first time.  I’ve only been twice before and both were in my adult age.  I have heard people say how magical Disneyland is but didn’t really grasp what they were talking about until I witnessed the look on our kids faces.  It truly was magical to see their excitement and nearly brought tears to my eyes a couple of times.  It was an absolute unforgettable experience.
We took the girls on the easy small kid friendly rides at first.  Then we headed to Toontown and rode the Gadget roller coaster.  After that ride they wanted to go on more “fast rides”.  We weren’t sure how the girls would do on some of the rides but they were total troopers and really surprised me!

we left midday to relax a bit at the hotel so we can survive long enough for the fireworks.  We also met some very special princesses.

Adisyn was a bit shy but I know she loved it!

The girls and us loved the fireworks.  Especially when they spotted tinkerbell flying through the air.  After the fireworks we called it a night to get rested for another day.
Day 2

These are actually the girls’ pjs.  They wanted so badly to wear them to Disneyland.  It was really cute because a lot of the employees would bow to them or say hello princess.  They felt so special it was cute.  Day 2 we also met with Nana and Papa.  We grabbed something to eat and headed to Splash Mountain.  We didn’t wait at all we literally walked directly to the ride.  It was a bit chilly in the morning and we think that’s why no one was in line.  Afterwards Adisyn said she loved it. and braved not even holding the bars.  Ava not so much despite the adorable picture she took on the ride.

So Fun!

The girls enjoyed lots of cotton candy and churros while I enjoyed some pineapple whip.

The girls love the train ride.  It was the only ride we rode three times.

We missed the parade the first day so we made it a priority the second.  It was worth every single second.  The girls got several waves from their favorite princesses and a few kisses blown their way.  Adisyn was jumping up and down screaming the next princesses name as the parade turned the corner.  It was priceless or worth every penny we spent to take them.  When Adisyn first saw Ariel she said Mom it’s the real Ariel!!  They turned to us and said Mom she waved at me as they were jumping up and down.  For me this was the highlight of the trip.

After seeing the pure joy on my kids faces I believe Disneyland truly is The Happiest Place On Earth.
We were all exhausted so we left and headed for dinner at House of Blues.

We had a magical time and would consider going again before the five year mark we initially thought.

SAN DIEGO

What an awesome vacation we had!  We headed out Thursday morning and arrived at our hotel at about 11.  We settled in and headed to lunch.  Thanks to rave reviews from friends we tried out this place called Hodad’s.  Awesome!  The BEST onion rings we’ve had and the burger was certainly something to write home about too.  Despite Adisyn taking a nose dive off the bar stool we started off our vacation with a bang!  After lunch we had a impromptu hang out at the beach.  The girls LOVE the beach.  They had so much fun chasing the waves.

Once we left the beach we walked around the bay area of our hotel.  So beautiful.

This view was just steps away from our hotel.
After we soaked up the scenery and watched the birds dive in water we headed to our hotel pool.  The pool was a great touch to our vacation.  It came complete with a pool side bar, Jacuzzi, this view and it was heated to a perfect 82 degrees.
For breakfast the next morning we headed to the infamous Kono’s.  I get what all the rave is about it was delicious and you can’t beat the view.  I got an iced coffee at Kono’s coffee right next door which was amazingly good.

After breakfast we got settled in at a perfect spot on the beach where we spent the next 5 hours.

Our spot.  we bought this tent a few years ago but never used it.  This time we knew the girls would want to spend hours at the beach and some shade was an absolute must.  This came in handy for sure.

we had a blast
After our long day at the beach we headed back to the hotel to freshen up and get some dinner.  We didn’t really have a plan of where to eat and stopped by this pizza place.  It was good and had front row seats for people watching along the street.

After dinner we spotted an ice cream shop across the street.  We had to stop!  We enjoyed our treat while walking along the beach.  We had fun!

excuse the poor quality but how cute is this picture?
After we made it back we took the girls night swimming.  Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night they show movies at the pool.  The girls loved and we enjoyed the weather while sipping on a few beers we brought watching our kids having a blast.

The next morning we headed to Mission CafĂ©.  SO GOOD! The food was great and the service was top notch.  Afterwards we met up with Shawn’s family and checked out their place and then headed to the beach.

Then it was back to the beach.

We played and spent time together for a few hours and then got cleaned up for dinner.  We headed to Bareback Grill.  Amazing find!  Shawn’s family has been before and I’m glad they took us there.  I had an average joe burger and Shawn got the fish n’ chips.  Hands down the best fish n’ chips EVER!  When I go back I will get that again.  We decided to walk to dinner and headed along the boardwalk.
